The Emagine Butterfly

In short – my initials ECB make a butterfly. However, a deeper meaning, came from a shaky time in my life:

Butterflies were scarce in Texas. Maybe it just wasn’t a place for them, or for me.

I was standing in the night rain in San Antonio. Four years had passed since I left my home residence in Virginia. Every thought of my future, and questions of my past racing each other in my mind. Not sure which one to answer, I simply questioned… what do I do? Out of nowhere, a bright blue butterfly came and attached itself to me. I thought of my late grandfather, whom we called LB, who’s favorite pastime was trailing butterflies all over the world. He displayed and labeled them, keeping their beauty and origin alive forever. A sense of calm fell through me and I suddenly knew that my future would be ok, that all my decisions up until now were what got me to where I was and the next plans I made were all to get me to the next page of my life. The butterfly stayed with me until it knew I felt ok and fluttered off like he had done his job. It just so happened to be my grandfather’s birthday.

Symbolic Meanings of a Butterfly

A butterfly symbolizes transformation, rebirth, spiritual evolution, freedom, joy, and beauty across various cultures and spiritual beliefs.

Its metamorphosis from a caterpillar to a winged creature represents significant personal growth and change, while its light and graceful flight signifies liberation and happiness.

Butterflies are also seen as messengers from the spirit world, connecting the living with departed souls and divine forces.
